The spectacular Misty Fjords National Monument covers 2.3 million acres and is known for its steep-walled fjords, coastal cliffs, and 3,000-foot rock walls that rise dramatically from the sea. The monument is covered with thick temperate rainforest that grows on nearly vertical slopes from sea to mountaintops. Dramatic waterfalls plunge into its fjords through narrow clefts or course over great rounded granite shoulders, fed by lakes, streams, and seasonal rainfall.  Wildlife in Misty Fjords is abundant and includes mountain goats, brown bears, black bears, moose, martens, wolves, wolverines, river otters, sea lions, seals, orcas, and porpoises. Bird species include hummingbirds, trumpeter swans, herons, bald eagles, puffins, back-legged kittiwakes, and murres. All five Pacific salmon species are present.  From Hidden Inlet we lead guided hikes into Misty Fjords.  Our most popular hike guides guests from the Lodge up a century old trail to Hidden Inlet Lake, the source of fresh water for the original salmon cannery that became Hidden Inlet Lodge.  Join us on a fascinating hike that few people have experienced in the last fifty years and marvel at the untouched landscape and abundant wildlife.
